Will:

SIC was my first conference in North America, having only moved to Canada from the UK at the start of this year. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn about what’s new and upcoming in the tech industry, as well as make some great connections with the numerous networking sessions.

As expected, AI was one of the hottest topics at the Seattle Interactive Conference, with plenty of conversations about what the future might hold. One of my favorite talks was by Davide Colla, who rather amusingly compared his feelings as a creative in the age of AI to those of a cassette tape when CDs came along.

Above all others, the session that really stood out to me was led by Dan Gifford from Getty Images. Dan discussed the bias that exists in data used to train many AI models and how this often leads to the perpetuation of damaging stereotypes. Getty has taken a strong stance against this bias by using higher-quality data sets. They have also pioneered an AI tool that compensates photographers whose images were used to train their AI. I believe this clear ethical and business stance is lacking in many of today’s AI market leaders and is something that should be more widely adopted.

I also attended several talks that resonated with my Product Lead role here at ResponsiveAds. Noa Dvoskin, a senior UX designer at Amazon, ran a session titled “Mastering the Moment: How to Influence Behavior with Perfect Timing.” I came away with plenty of insights that I plan to incorporate into my current project, which aims to improve the usability of our ResponsiveAds web app and onboarding experience.

Elisa:

Attending Seattle Interactive Conference was a delight — SIC proved to be a dynamic event, jam-packed with engaging speakers. As a member of the Marketing Team at ResponsiveAds, I gained valuable insights from the conference that I am eager to implement in our marketing strategy.

One conference that particularly stood out to me was “From UK Origins to US Expansion: Fostering Children’s Independence Through Audio” by Jon Kell, VP of Marketing at Yoto. This inspiring session highlighted how a small company, despite having a limited marketing budget, achieved remarkable success with a powerful message and an innovative product that meets its clients’ needs perfectly. It demonstrated that substantial revenue can be generated with minimal marketing costs by crafting a compelling message and fostering a strong, caring community.

Our journey to the Seattle Interactive Conference was an eye-opening experience, filled with inspiration, learning, and valuable connections. The insights we gained from industry leaders, thought-provoking sessions, and innovative ideas have equipped us with new strategies to implement in our work back home at ResponsiveAds.

As we move forward, we are excited to apply these learnings and share the benefits with our clients. The energy and creativity sparked by SIC will undoubtedly drive us to craft even more engaging and impactful digital advertising solutions. Stay tuned as we put these insights into action and continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of digital marketing.
